Socratic Seminar

The Socratic seminar influenced my thinking on the topic by improving my intellectual way of thinking as a reader and connecting ideas back from text to text. One thing that had made me think was how a student stated examples from 4 different articles and connected back to each other. The teacher had some very good level 2 questions. I was impressed that people who doesn't talk actually talked during this group discussion.

One thing that mad me think was when Adriana asked "How would connected poverty to grapes of wrath". This was actually a question everybody in the group had to think about. Another one was "What is your feeling towards poverty?" I felt that everybody in the group expressed and shared their thoughts on it.

The group leader was phenomenal. Her level 2 and 3 question was very good. Her way of speaking changed everybody aspects on the book and the different articles. Her speaking on the topics was clear.

One thing that needs to be worked on is more than one person talking for whole group.

Socratic Seminar

To be honest the seminar didn't improve my intellectual way of thinking because I felt as if the my group wasn't prepared to talk ad discuss on the topic. I can say that he other group was good because they were on topic the whole time, they had strong level 2 and 3 questions.  I guess both group can learn from each others mistakes. Nothing really made me think on something that was so in depth.

The  statement I agree with the most is that " Money Can't Buy You Happiness". There was nothing that was said in the group that I disagreed with. I felt as  if most of the people in he group shared their thoughts, I agreed with them I felt as if they were right. Things that need to be said in the group is more level 2 and 3 questions. I would like some people to speak in the group instead of staying quite as a mouse. I want them to speak up in the group.

I think the group leader worked really good because she was able to state level 2 questions and grab others in the group attention on the topic. She also had very strong level 2 and 3 questions. She was able to give a clear statement on the topic.

I think there need to be more people to speak and ask questions, also the coaching need more work on.

A- Theme: Humans tend to blame others for their unknowingly actions.
·Although the theme is blaming others for their unknowingly actions, it show the truth about humans behavior
·If the theme is blaming others for their unknowingly actions, then George Orwell wants the animals to reflecting on there actions
·When the theme is blaming others for their unknowingly actions, humans can reflects on it to change their habits.

B- Theme: They may look like harmless nerd, but they're just waiting for the right opportunity to oppress us all.
·Although the theme is looking harmless and oppress others, it show that humans can't really judge a book by its cover.
·If the theme is looking harmless and oppress others, then George Orwell wants the reader to experience a sort of calm situation throughout the book
·When the theme is looking harmless and oppressing others, human can tend to know a person character

Socratic Seminar Reflection

The Socratic seminar influenced my thinking on the topic by improving my intellectual way of thinking as a reader and connecting ideas back to the text. One thing that had made me think was how a student compared a real life situation (war) to the book "Thing They Carried", they've given good idead/examples that can be related back to any text throughout  the book.

(I'm sorry I really cannt recall what any of my classmates had said during the seminar)

I think the coaching worked really well because the person would tell me to improve in different categories, and target my question. They also give me ideas to discuss with the group.

I think more people need to be called on during the seminar. Even tho they might not have. Question ready just start them off with one to give them a jump start.

Dear Ms.Hunter

Hello,

My name is A'Mee Barnes. I attend Woodrow Wilson Senior High School. A major thing I like about school is being able to make new friends and meet new people as the days goes by. My personal weakness are staying focus, acting and dance. My strength are being self motivated, singing, drawing and playing any type of sports.

I have one younger twin brother, one older sister. My sister had a baby girl who just recently turned four years old. When me and my brother were little we moved from Washington D.C. to Silver Spring Maryland with our mother. We lived there for about one and year and then we moved back to Washington D.C. My brother and I started to live with our aunt who is currently our guardian. During my 7th grade year my family had experienced something that no body should ever experience. My mother passed away, with her death startling my family. I've noticed my attitude had change a whole lot.I went from being the sweet nice girl to a mean girl. Over the years that had passed I tried to put my mother death in the pass and try to go back to the original me, it took two years for me to change. Here I am now living with my aunt, brother and niece. I speak two languages such as Spanish and Chinese.

A special hobby I have is singing, drawing and playing basketball. A interests I have is playing video games, watching anime and reading manga. I currently know how to play the piano, I'm trying to learn how to play the drums. I can operate a computer very well at home and anywhere else. My typing skills is 82% good. I kinda know the keys from the back of my hand. One thing that I had done and I'm proud of it is winning 2nd place in the D.C.I.A.A Alpine skiing championship. I like all types of sports. I specific type of book I like to read is a manga. I really can't say what is my favorite book because every book I read I love it, since it builds my interests.

A English righting skill I need help with is writing a proper essay, annotating and citing evidence from the text. I also help with the linear and non-linear structure. My expectations for this class is to be able to pass and not being able to attend summer school again.
